A family affair…

Spinning Leaf is the passion of the Stevens family. It came to life after a 5 year search for the perfect property on which we could create a special sacred space to celebrate the most memorable occasions in life.

Our vision began to take shape when we rented this former winery in May 2017 for a non-profit event we were organizing. During that event the owners told us that they were wanting to sell the property and retire. The plan came to life over a 7 month process of designing our dream on this terrain, with these views and these buildings.

Within 1 year, we were hosting our first events and beginning a journey with our regional community that will last for decades and likely span generations. We want you to get to know us before we ask you to trust us with your event.

Meet the Owners

Seth, Heather, Lynsie and Simon Fonzarelli (the dog) are the proud owners of Spinning Leaf. Seth (CEO) and Heather (Director of Sales and Community Engagement) moved to Shelby in 2000 and promptly began investing themselves in the community. Heather was a local public school teacher until Lynsie (Director of Event Services) came along; Heather was “bringing home the bacon” for the family while Seth was building a community-focussed coffee shop brand called Broad River Coffee. The coffee company eventually included 3 locations and a specialty coffee roasting operation. Although the retail locations were sold in 2008, we continue to roast specialty coffee for clients at Spinning Leaf under the Broad River Roasters brand.

Heather leads our sales and community involvement efforts. She will be directly involved in helping you choose the best venue and best plan to help you meet all of your budget and event-quality goals. She is also the founder and Director of Feeding Kids Cleveland County, a local non-profit that seeks to unite the community to address the physical and emotional hunger of kids in our county. They provide food and relationships to the nearly 1 out of every 3 kids in our county that don’t have reliable access to food when they are not in school.

After college, Lynsie moved back to the area and worked in our coffee business for a couple years before we started Spinning Leaf. Since opening, Lynsie has personally overseen more than 200 events for clients. With our growth, she has risen to an executive role and heads up the event planning process with clients and manages the event services staff.

Seth operates behind the scenes to guide the company according to our Core Values and to enable and empower our team to create unbelievable experiences for our guests.

At every step of your event process, you can rest well knowing that our owners are hands-on and fully invested in making sure that you and your guests are treated to a fantastic experience before, during and after your event.
